OAG FACTS – Executive Summary March 2008
 The latest statistics from OAG schedules database reveal that airlines around the world plan to operate 2,501,416 flights throughout
March 2008, up 2% on March 2007 with an additional 37,834 operations. The monthly seat offering worldwide is 299,594,600
accounting for a year-on-year growth rate of 4%.
 Within Africa airlines plan to deploy 58,287 flights, 5,749 more than this time last year. The number of flights departing from and
arriving to the region will grow by 13% compared with March 2007 to 30,420.
 Traffic to and from the Asia/Pacific region will also increase by 13% year-on-year bringing the total number of flights to 52,873. The
number of available flights within the region will increase from 499,348 in March 2007 to 521,038 in March 2008, a rise of 4%.
 The volume of flights to and from Central & South America will increase by 2,782 to 67,419. The number of scheduled operations
within the region will grow by similar amount of 2,505 resulting in 191,556 available flights throughout March 2008.
 The growth rate of flights to and from Europe is scheduled to rise 10% year-on-year to 93,132 operations. Conversely, there will be
378 fewer regional flights within Europe compared to March 2007.
 Flights to and from the Middle East continue to exhibit strong growth of 17% with 5,689 additional operations during March 2008.
Consequently, the total number of flights available to and from the region is 38,521. Within the Middle East there will also be an
increase in the volume of flights to 35,034, a rise of 5%.
 The number of international operations to and from North America will climb to 94,359, with an additional 3,931 flights compared to
this month last year. However, there will be a decline in the number of flights within North America from 944,176 to 935,644 over the
same period.
 The table below shows the eight-year trend in the overall number of flight operations to/from & within selected regions from March
2001 through to March 2008.
